One for the Grandparents

You will be happy to know that our homesick little man is doing much better.

B still has a bit of an addiction to Netflix as it continues to be a source of comfort. However, he now calls England home. There are some days when he still asks for a few comforts of old, the Jeep, going to the carwash with D, and ‘the big TV’. Whenever he asks to return to Calgary and I ask ‘what’s in Calgary’ he always says ‘the big TV’. It seems a small computer screen is not to his liking for watching his shows. So deprived, this new generation 😉

Sleeping has gotten better too! B is sleeping through the night in his own bed. That’s not to say that I don’t wake up with him in bed, but that is becoming rare. He’s having some bad dreams as of late. Mostly about not being able to find D or I. Sometimes we can hear him call out “Guys! Guys!” (I love that he calls us Guys), but he usually goes back to sleep on his own. Sometimes D has to tackle me to stay in bed as I’m still prone to jump up and rush to his room at the first call out of “MOMMY!”.

B seems to be having more enjoyable days too. He’s pretty good about getting dressed himself, eating his breakfast and taking off his diaper (ya, still a diaper, I’ll get to that in an upcoming post) before he can watch a show (Dora, PAW Patrol, Blaze and Justin Time are still the favs). We are still going to playgroups but B is still pretty shy there, although he always tells me that it was fun and is always willing to go again. His favourite thing to do is find the play knife he has hidden and then pretend to chop things up, esp play-dough. I think he is chopping for a salad, but others have noticed his obsession with the knives. (HeHe!)

As for B’s stutter, somedays it seems that it is improving, other days it seems quite a struggle for him. If he is nervous or shy or really excited it tends to get worse. That said, he sure is chatty lately. I must admit, sometimes he’s hard to follow as he gets going so quick and then slams into a stutter. He still likes that you repeat what he says so he can verify that indeed you know what he is talking about. A challenge sometimes.

Do you know what else is a challenge? Feeding a three year old. He never stops eating. He eats at least 4 whole pcs of fruit a day. Plus mounds of carbs; rice, pasta (a breakfast favourite), bread, potatoes and he specifically orders meat for dinner. When there isn’t any fruit left he moves onto veg; cucumber, peppers, broccoli, carrots to name a few. I will say that he is not fussy, thank goodness. He LOVES a charcuterie board, esp. the olives and meats. Going to the pub means he takes down mac & cheese and fries and whatever he can steal from D’s and my plate; and that’s a snack! He needs to eat when we get home again. The fridge has been pillaged by the time grocery day rolls around.

Forts have become a big hit as of late. It’s been wet and cold outside so we often stay in and build massive forts. Do you know what he likes to do in them? Yup, eat fruit and watch a show. Shocking.

Well, that’s all I can think of at the moment. I’m sure that there will be plenty more Briticisms to follow.
