Guy Fawkes’s Night

It was chilly last Saturday but we braved the wind and temp (I seem to always be cold) to head out to this years celebrations. We took the bus down an always busy Oxford Street to join the masses at The Lions’s Club. It was a mini exhibition, with kids rides, fried food stand and sweets stand, along with the requisite Beer Garden. There weren’t any effigies being burnt but there were massive lineups for everything. The finale was a huge firework display which was quite spectacular. By the end of it, the whole crowd was staring straight up at a surreal sky lit up with a shower of explosions. It felt like the whole thing was going to pick you up and cart you off into the aura.

B was most impressed with the rides! He had a little weep when we had to go home (we always leave too early by his standards). As you can tell, he was loving every minute of it.
